"Its Not What We Have In Life, But Who We Have In Life That Matters." -J.M. Laurence While I sit here as Hurricane Harvey starts to invade my area, I find myself longing to return to this lovely day on the beach with Julie and her family. There are not many thing I'll wake up before daylight for, a sunrise photo session one the beach is on of 'em. For the past few summers Julie and her brother, Rick, along with their mom and families rent out a condo in Galveston. This year they were kind enough to invite me one morning to photograph some memorable portraits of them as a family during their staycation. We had such a lovely time! I was in love with this location, their condo was right off the beach and we basically had the whole place to ourselves. They all looked wonderful in their coordinating denim and white outfits, perfect for the beach! And the weather was superb- it had rained early in the morning so it had cooled off a bit and the humidity hadn't quite set in. After we wrapped up family portraits, three of the girls changed into a second outfit. Rebecca recently went on a school trip to Greece and wanted to document her souvenir dress she brought back- isn't she just dazzling in it?! Then sweet Matilda and Annabelle changed into their outfits of choice for a few more shots on the beach. These little twins are absolutely adorable!
When I asked the family what they would be doing the rest of their day they said, "The beach or the pool. Or both! Doesn't matter as long as we're together." I loved the simplicity of the answer. Summer vacations can be so hectic with lots of plans and schedules. I loved this family's example of getting away to a quite spot where they could relaxing and enjoy their beautiful surroundings and each other. I was honored to photograph these sweet memories for them and I know their portraits will look beautiful displayed around their home.
