When Family Comes To Town...

As I continue to grow my photography business here in the NYC area, I find that I'm take less and less photos of my day to day life. I focus so much on my clients that I tend to forget about documenting my own life. Well when my sister, Nikki, came to town, I busted out my camera to document her visit. When Nikki and I get together we become quite the foodies so a lot of the following photos will be of drool worthy food!

Though she doesn't haven the biggest sweet tooth, Nikki loves donuts, so during her trip we made it a point to try to get in as many donut places as we could! Along with several other great food stops we visited the High Line which is a must for anyone in the city, visitor or resident.

I love when family comes to town and I'm so glad I have all these photos to remember Nikki and I's 2015 NYC adventures. Pick up your camera and document your memories!

We kicked back our feet for a bit and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings at the Jefferson Market Garden in the Village. Loved spying on this bee as it danced around the flowers!

In Mid Air- Meaghan

When I was 15 years old I had the pleasure and responsibility of teaching my very own tap class! I had substitute taught and assisted other teachers but never had a group of students who were all my own. It was the youngest of the advanced classes and though small in numbers, they provided me with many wonderful memories and taught me so much about how to be a teacher!! Among those students was dear, sweet Meaghan.

Meaghan has always held a soft spot in my heart. Not only is she incredibly kind and polite, but works harder than everyone else in the room. I'm so proud of the young woman she's become and the strong dancer that continues to blossom! Since she's up here studying at ABT's Summer Intensive this summer, I was thrilled to photograph an Artistic Dance Portrait Session in Central Park for her on one of her weekends off. She has such power and strength in her jumps and poise in the carriage of her arms.

I loved every minute of our session together!

Lady Like- Rachel

Rachel is one of my many former students visiting NYC from Texas this Summer. It's not hard to guess why she is studying at American Ballet School's Summer Intensive. She's gorgeous! I am in awe at the talent and ability she has risen to since I've known and loved her.
For Rachel's Artistic Portrait Session we chose the lush and scenic Central Park as our background. We twirled and jumped around the park finding the most beautiful nooks to photograph in. I loved capturing her long lines and lady like charisma!

Summertime is such a perfect time to get photographed for marketing/modeling/website/general fun!!

With Brave Wings She Flys- Nikol

Today is my dear friend, Niki's Birthday. These photos are from a Portrait Session I did for her a little while back and have been saving them for this post!
There are so many things I love about Nikol Peterman. To name a few…

She is passionate! Be it collaboration, writing, birds, fire, storytelling, dance, yoga, or community, her passions mirror her personality: warm, inviting, and fun!
Her ability to connect to the deeper emotion. Niki has gone through hell and back over the last few years and has come out on top a much stronger and intuitive person. She is a great example to me of the motto "It's not what happens to you, it's what you do when it happens."
Her inspired writing! If you are not already, PLEASE subscribe to her blog posts at zenrednyc.com, not just because she's my friend, but your life will be deeply enriched when you do. She's built a beautiful community through ZenRedNYC and I'm proud to be apart of it. Her writing is insightful, profound, and uplifting, constantly inspiring to dig a little deeper and understand one's self.
She is a ferociously loyal friend. I can always count on Niki to be there for me. She knows my faults and loves me for them. Her ability to know what to say and how to say it in the right moments is perfect. She supports and understands me to another level and I'm so grateful for her in my life.

Happy Birthday, my zen red headed soul sister! May this new year be the start of a wonderful new chapter and bring you so much happiness. I feel honored to know you and be your friend, cheerleader, and photographer.

Born to Entertain- Savannah

I love Summertime in NYC because it brings so many dear friends to town for their vacations and adventures. When Savannah told me she wanted to do an Artistic Dance Portrait Session while she was visiting, I'm pretty sure I squealed with delight!

Here's the thing about Savannah: this girl is a STAR! Whether you're watching her dance on stage or having a conversation with her, you can't help but love her. She's so sweet and immensely talented. I just adore her and loved our session together. We had a blast wandering around the streets of Chelsea and snapping some fun shots. Savannah is a ray of sunshine and I know one day she's going to take this city by storm!
