"I'll eat you up, I love you so." -Where the Wild Things Are Dear little Cooper has turned ONE! Maggie, Cooper's mommy and one of my best friends, approached me about photographing a cake smash shoot for Cooper and I was honored! I adored all the cute props she brought and loved trying out a new location, Elva Lovit Park in Dickinson. At first Cooper seemed a bit confused when we gave him free rein on the chocolate cake but he quickly got the gist of it! After the shoot as we loaded up all the props back in the car, Maggie was wiping all the chocolate off of Cooper when out of nowhere it started down pouring!! We were drenched and laughing our heads off. Thank goodness it hadn't happened five minutes earlier or it would have been right in the middle of our session. Good thing Cooper needed a rinse!
Wishing you a very happy birthday, Cooper! Looking forward to watching you grow through the years. You bring so much happiness to the world, especially to your amazing mama. Proud to be your Aunt C/official photographer!

Kim and Rob were the best of friends while we lived in Jersey and on a recent trip back, my number one priority was meeting their baby girl, May. She is sweet like her mama and spunky like her daddy! I loved snapping some newborn portraits of her as well as some with Mama. Kim is a beautiful mother and I can’t wait to watch Baby May grow! Congrats to you my dear friends! She is PRACTICALLY PERFECT in every way!
"Be a Mother who is committed to loving her children into standing on the higher ground than the environment surrounding them. Mothers are endowed with a love that is unlike any other love on the face of the earth." -Marjorie Pay Hinckley Right before Mother's Day I met up with one of my besties, Maggie, and her little boy, Cooper for a Mommy and Me session. It was wonderful to celebrate Maggie's first year of motherhood with these sweet portraits. So often I meet mother's who shy away from the camera but it's so important to get photos of mama with her littles! I know that as Cooper grows he will treasure these photo memories with his mama. Motherhood suits Maggie so beautifully and I love watching her care for her little boy. Looking forward to many more sessions with these two!
“They could see she was a real Princess and no question about it, now that she had felt one pea all the way through twenty mattresses and twenty more feather beds. Nobody but a Princess could be so delicate.” -Hans Christian Andersen, The Princess and the Pea A year ago today, Penelope entered the earth making me an aunt once more and she's been such a blessing to our family ever since. For P's 1st Birthday Portrait Session it was a no brainer what the theme should be: Princess and the Pea! The story of Princess and the Pea has always been a favorite of mine. Our own little Princess P has endured many nights unable to sleep so one must conclude that she is a genuine princess, not to mention she has a natural grace and sweetness about her. She was such a doll during her birthday session and played her part to a "T"... or should I say "P"?!
I know I'm a little behind with the whole "year in review" thing but I figured as long
as I published this before February 1st I was still good...! In no particular order, here are my top 16 portraits of 2016 and why they were my favorites of the year. |
