“Difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations.” -Author Unknown Nikol is one of my favorite people. Ever. She inspires me, lifts me up, and helps me soar! I feel so lucky to have her as a client and even luckier to call her a friend.
Through Niki's company, ZenRedNYC, she serves as an Empowerment Coach to creatives and has built a beautiful community of artists that I feel proud to be apart of. In our past sessions (which you can see HERE and HERE) we’ve focused on the "Zen" aspect of her business, photographing in very lush, park settings. However, this time around we shifted our attention to the "NYC" in her business title and not many things are more iconic than the Brooklyn Bridge! After checking off Sunrise on the BB off my bucket list, we explored the beautiful streets of Tribeca. Niki has a light that shines so bright from her and I love getting to capture that on camera time after time.

HAPPY 7 YEAR PHOTOGRAPHY ANNIVERSARY TO ME!!
Though I consider photography a lifelong passion, May 20, 2009 was when Caitlin Cannon photography was truly born. Read about it HERE. Since then my love for photography has grown exponentially and has changed the way I view the world. To celebrate my anniversary, I thought it would be only fitting to photograph two of my dear, dear friends, Kate and Aaron, who were there when it all began. We all grew up together at the same dance studio in Houston and now all reside in NYC (Jersey girl over here, but close enough!) I don’t get to see them nearly as much as I should so this little session was really a treat! You never know what's going to happen during a CCP shoot... Favorite moments included Aaron’s PINK hair, some random pedestrian showing us how to do a flagpole on a stop sign (which I regrettably did not get on camera), and my two lovely model’s infectious laughter. Nothing like lifelong friends to put a smile on your face!! After the fun we had last year photographing Madeline in the bluebonnets, we decided we just had to do it again! It seems as though this is becoming an annual event for my Spring trips to TX! I can't believe how much this baby niece of mine is blossoming into a little girl. She is very much two years old with her own ideas, plans, and opinions (often being quite the stinker!) and oh, how I love her. As I was skimming through my favorites from this most recent session, I found myself having a deja vu moment... I went back and viewed our photos from last year and found two very similar photos from both years. Her cheeks aren't as plump and she furrows her brow now, but her rosebud lips, button nose, and luscious lashes remain the same. View the comparison below (TOP-last year, BOTTOM- this year.) I can't wait for next year when her little baby sister will be joining in on the bluebonnet tradition! And a Happy (Late) Mother's today to all the moms, grandmas, expecting moms, honorary moms, future moms, doggy moms out there! Moms are so very special and I know I'm biased but my mom is truly the best. I could go on an on about her kindness, selflessness, strength, humility, and many, MANY talents, but instead I want to briefly focus on the grace that she personifies as a grandma. I absolutely love watching her with my adorable nieces and nephews. She spoils them rotten, loves them whole heartedly, and is such an incredible example to them. I look forward to the day when I get to I see her love on my own children and touch their hearts as she does so naturally with everyone she meets. I LOVE YOU MOM. Thank you for being the best there is!
"Love is like a mountain, hard to climb, but once you get to the top the view is beautiful." -Daniel Monroe Tuttle I'm usually saying how old I feel when kids I've known forever are my Senior Portrait clients, but imagine how old I felt photographing one of these "kid's" Engagement Portraits?!
Christine is a former tap student of mine and I'm thrilled that she's preparing to marry the love of her life, Nick! Christine and Nick have been together for four years and really are the cutest couple. Their personalities compliment each other so well. I love the story of their proposal... Nick was stationed in Alaska through the Army and Christine went up to visit him. While hiking a mountain together they stopped at a historic mark and Nick proposed! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful Spring day for their session. I enjoyed skipping around some of my favorite go to locations, Herman Park and the Police Memorial as well as new favorite, The Dunlavy along Buffalo Bayou. (I love my trips to Texas!!) Wishing this gorgeous couple so much happiness and joy as they start this new chapter together. So grateful and honored to have captured this special moment in time for them! |
