Each year on Josh and I's anniversary we take a photo of our photo from the prior year. On our first anniversary we were still living in Houston but took a trip up to NYC to celebrate our first year of wedded bliss! Our 2nd and 3rd anniversaries were also spent in NYC, this time as residents, so up until this year, every anniversary had been spent in NYC! Having recently moved back to town, it was exciting to spend our 4th anniversary in TX, back where everything began. We spent the afternoon downtown exploring all of our favorite spots in the Theatre District. We walked along the bayou (and found the hidden button- ask me about it sometime!) and many of the beautiful theatres I've performed at over the years. For lunch we grabbed a bite at Barnaby's... it had been far too long since we've had their most delicious blue cheese fondue waffle fries!
We thought it might be fun to pop around the corner to our wedding venue, The Majestic Metro, and use it as the background for our annual photo tradition. I was just planning on asking some passerby to take the photo for us since our tripod was still caught up in one of our many moving boxes but before I knew it Josh is knocking on the front door and a nice man named Jason greeted us. He's the son in law of Lewis, the older gentleman who was managing the venue when we married there four years ago, and now Jason runs the place. He was kind enough to let us walk around and reminisce, showing us all the many technical improvements they've made over the years. As we walked out he was kind enough to snap our photo with the theatre behind us. It was a special way to wrap up our celebration and to remember not only that beautiful party we had four years ago but to also appreciate all the many miles (literally and figuratively) we've crossed together. Happy Anniversary, Josh! Thanks for loving me forever and always (even when I get a bit obnoxious- which I know you love.)
