The Courageous Woman Project

A little over a year ago I photographed my good friend Nikol for an Artistic Portrait Sessions. She has used those images to promote her new Life Coaching Business, ZenRedNYC, and the fact that she has found success using my images gives me so much happiness! 

Now I want to give you a little backstory behind the above photo. Generally speaking, during my Sessions I go in with ideas but so much of what I do is sites specific. Collaboration is key with my clients and Mother Nature's lighting, shading, and atmosphere. I don't like to stay in one spot for too long, as to keep our imaginations flowing. We were nearing the end of our shoot and were walking up a beautiful stone pathway in Ft. Tryon Park. As we walked I interrupted Niki mid sentence, "Stop!" When I see an image I'm quick to not let it go! The way the light hit the back side of her face was so beautifully contrasted by the shadowed front. She was a fiery light standing tall above the far off buildings.

And then more awesome things happened! The community that Niki has built through ZenRedNYC is filled with artists and creatives and is constantly expanding. Among those in her circle is the beautiful artist, Barbara Ferrier. Barbara has created an incredible collection, The Courageous Woman Project, using Nikol as one of her Portrait subjects. For Niki's Portrait, Barbara used my photo of her as the inspiration. I can't even tell you how happy I get that my art inspires other's art. Barbara has such beautiful eye, both realistic and whimsical, and I'm honored to have been apart of her inspiration. I'm constantly inspired by others and I think it's such beautiful thing that as our artists and creatives we can learn and grow by studying each others work.
