"Always timid, never took a chance Then I felt his magic And my heart began to dance." -Mel Brooks This year, 2019, marks the 10 year anniversary of two very important events for me. May 16th, 2009 marked the birth of Caitlin Cannon Photography and on June 3, 2009, on the way home from a photoshoot I was involved in a tragic car accident, which took the life of my dear friend Makenzie. My photography anniversary arrived this year and my life was so completely chaotic that I didn't even get a chance to celebrate. I was teaching non stop, caught up in client shoots, and getting ready for my first performing contract in 6 years! June arrived and I was immersed in The Producers at Casa Manana. Never have I so quickly fallen in love with my cast mates. These beautifully, talented people quickly became like family to me. I shared with them my story and love for savoring moments and invited them for a fun day of photos on our day off, which coincidentally fell on June 3rd. I experienced a rollercoaster of emotions that day... sorrow, love, acceptance, pride, helplessness, tenderness, peace, but mostly gratitude. So much gratitude for a healthy body, for the ability to express myself through song and dance. Gratitude for the support of my dear friends and family who have supported, encouraged, and loved me, especially thru the journey of this last decade. Gratitude to this cast, crew, and creative team for embracing me with open arms. And above all I felt grateful to be alive. I live knowing that I was saved for a purpose and try each day to spread my light to everyone I meet. Spending this 10 year anniversary with my new friends, capturing their beautiful spirits thru my camera... there's nothing else I'd rather have done. Just like Mr. Brooks said, "My heart began to dance!"
