Countdown to CCP's 6th Anniversary: Day 1

In six days, Caitlin Cannon Photography will be celebrating its 
Six Year Anniversary!!!

 When I was trying to decide how to commemorate the occasion this year, I came up with the idea of using the blog as a countdown. My original thought was to pick my six favorite photos and feature one for each day, but when I tried to decide on only six images, it was impossible! So instead, I've decided to showcase many of my favorites on each day leading up to May 20th.

For today, Day 1, I wanted to focus on where my love for photography first flourished... through DANCING! From a young age in dance class I would always hear the teacher say, "I should be able to take a picture of you when you do a [insert any dance step.]" I grew up with the notion that dancing was making beautiful pictures with your body! So as I discovered my interest for photography it was only natural for me to start grabbing all of my dancer friends and to do what we loved best, DANCE! I love finding the highest point of a grand leap in the air or the longest line of a battement. Its always a complete joy to find a pose that perfectly compliments the strengths of my dancers as well as discovering interesting ways to make our images site specific. 


Though it was incredibly difficult to choose (and I know I left so many other favorites out) here are some Artistic Dance Portraits from the first six years of Caitlin Cannon Photography that hold a special place in my heart!
