Hello blogging world! CCP has been very busy these last few months and I’m looking forward to getting back to the usual Client Blog Posts soon. Till then I wanted to write my thoughts about a certain topic: BALLET! Three days ago was World Ballet Day. Many friends posted their favorite photos of days past and present in tights, tutus, and pointe shoes jumping, kicking, and twirling. For many years, Ballet Day was every day in my life. I started in ballet classes at the age of three. My older sisters had all danced and as they say, Monkey See Monkey Do. At RAFA, the Ballet School I grew up at, along with Ballet I studied Tap, Jazz, and Musical Theatre. We were encouraged to be well rounded performers, to not just be “one trick ponies.” In my teen years I took 4-5 ballet classes a week and my classical technique grew stronger. My classical training prepared me for my Musical Theatre career and gave me a leg up among other theatre hopefuls. When I started Caitlin Cannon Photography I found that my background as a classical dancer was extremely beneficial! As I photograph dancers I’m able to pose them and offer technical corrections that best flatter their body and satisfy their expectations. The setting of a photo can be perfectly composed and beautifully artistic, but if a dancer sees even the slightest of technical error within their pose, the image won’t fly. I make sure that my clients look their absolute best and guide their movement to create that picture perfect moment that dancers work years to perfect! If you are a dancer and saying to yourself, "I don’t have any images of me dancing!” then you need a CCP Session! You deserve to have beautiful portraits that capture your passion, beauty, and strength through your love of dance. Why not make every day World Ballet (and Dance Day) and book your Artistic Dance Portrait Session TODAY! Caitlin Cannon Photography provides photo services in NYC and NJ. Houston native. I specialize in natural light custom portraits which include dance, family, headshots, maternity, seniors, baby, and children. First blog post! I had the great honor of taking the photos for the fiercely talented Emily Drennan's debut album. The shoot was this last summer, on a very breezy day. Emily had this gorgeous red dress for her first look, short in the front, long in the back, and when the wind picked it up it was stunning! We shot all over Midtown and Central Park. As you can see in the photo to my left, sometimes we'd be standing in the middle of the street, and Emily literally stopped traffic! Her second look was a short black dress that showed her rocker side. Emily found the coolest streets in Astoria that had the most beautiful graffiti art I've ever seen. We finished the shoot off on the west side overlooking the river at sunset! You can purchase her fabulous Two Disc CD by clicking here. If you're in NYC September 30th, you should come to her concert at the Metropolitan Room. You receive a free cd with the cover charge! I've been a fan of Emily's for years so it was an honor to work with her and see my photos on her album! |
