"A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination." -Nelson Mandela I had the great pleasure of meeting Maddie when she was probably about 7 or 8 years old. She tagged along with her older sister to an audition of a kid's Musical Review I was directing and she impressed me with her natural spunk and vibrancy. Now, a decade later, stood before me a beautiful, confident young woman and I can't help but think how fast time flies. How is she already a senior?! Maddie has always had a very artistic side. Her loves include literature, dance, and color guard but undoubtably her greatest passion lies in visual arts. For a couple of years her family lived in Oklahoma and my husband and I stopped through to visit them during a road trip. I remember her showing me a a small sketch book filled with drawings. She showed great promise even then and her work has since developed into mature, detailed, thought provoking pieces. Of all the fun props that she brought for her session, I particularly the shots we got of all of Maddie with all of her artwork. How could she ever pick a favorite when they're all just so beautiful?! Come next year she will continue her creative studies at Art Center School of Design and I wish her the very best as she steps into her adult life. I'm so inspired to see her going after what she loves!
