Before I found my passion for natural light photography, I started off photographing the rehearsals and performances of my dance life! I love returning to those roots last week at the Feijoo Ballet School's dress rehearsal for their very first End of Year Performance. Come the fall I will joining their faculty teaching tap and theatre and I couldn't be more thrilled. Returning to the Grand Opera House in Galveston, the theatre I grew up performing at, was such a beautiful thing. As I stood at the front of the orchestra photographing all the young talent on stage, I couldn't help feeling like everything is coming full circle. Feijoo Ballet School is located in Dickinson, Tx, founded by Artistic Director, world renowned prima ballerina, Lorna Feijoo. It has been such a pleasure to stand back and watch everyone come together for this school's first year of classes and I look forward to watching its growth over the years. Even for a dress rehearsal, all the dances looked so beautiful and clean. The opening of the show started off with the Grand Défilé, where all the school's students presented themselves on stage to their audience (quite the spectacle!) Other highlights for me included Boy's Ballet Class, the Int Adv Contemorary Class' "El Tango de Roxanne (with brilliant choreography by Nicole Ballard), "Sunshine and Lollipops" by the Baby Pink Tap Class, and of course "Paquita" performed by the top levels of the ballet program.
Congrats to Lorna, Natalie, Melissa, and everyone at FBS on a fantastic first year of classes. I look forward to joining the family in the fall!
