Whenever I have a client whom I don't know, I'm always a bit anxious to meet and get to know them. Russell was referred to me by some mutual friends for his Senior Portrait Session and from the moment I met him, I knew I was in for a great shoot!! He was easy going, completely natural in front of the camera, and so nice. He even brought along his adorable dog, T-Bone, for a few photos. It is always such a privilege to capture such a special time in someone's life, especially High School Seniors. They are so full of happiness and ambition. It's inspiring! Last month I had a great opportunity to speak about my experience living and working in NYC to a group of theatre students from Houston. Among those in attendance was my former student, Catherine. I was Catherine's tap teacher years ago at RAFA! I was happy to see Catherine again during this most recent Texas trip for a portrait session! In her session we focused on capturing a solid set of Theatrical Headshots and also made time for some Artistic Portraits just for fun! Sweet Catherine has really come out of her shell since I've known her and was a pro in front of the camera. We had a blast at the always lovely Bay Area Park! Sweet Emily wanted to be photographed with her two best friends, sister duo, Summer and Alyssa. I've had the pleasure of knowing these young ladies for a long time (and when I say a long time I mean since they were born) and they are true treasures! All three have hearts of gold and have been blessed with extreme musical talents and abilities. We started off the session indoors, each of them with their respected instruments and serenading me as I snapped away. The second part of the session was in a nearby park where the girls were soaked in the warmth of the setting sun. It was an honor to capture the friendship of this sweet trio and I know they will cherish these photos for a long time to come! Currently booking Spring 2015. When Courtney contacted me about photographing an Artistic Dance Portrait Session, I was ecstatic!! Courtney and I met doing Show Boat with Houston Grand Opera in December 2012. On a day off during that contract, I grabbed herself and two of the other dancers in the show for a fun day of contemporary dance photos. This time around, Courtney wanted to show off more of her theatrical side or as she put it, "Less Twyla more Gwen Verdon." Twist my arm! For her session, we decided to start at Kemah Boardwalk. It had been years since I'd done photos there and found I had a fresh take on the area. Since she brought a cute retro bathing suit, we headed to the nearby Pine Gully Park to end the session on their beachy sands. Courtney was super fun to work with once again and I absolutely adore the final product of our collaboration. It's always a special treat for me to photograph dancers since that is how my love for photography truly started.               My first Headshot Session while on my Texas trip was with the beautiful, Alyssa! Alyssa is a budding musical theatre actress. Since I've known Alyssa, she's blossomed from a shy little girl to a gorgeously confident teenager. I enjoyed photographing her session and seeing such a range in her images. Her soft blue eyes and sweet personality photographed beautifully!      I've decided to start naming my blog posts for Headshot Sessions "Faces." As I photograph these sessions I love studying the human face. When I retouch a clients photos, I notice things that I would never normally notice at a glace. The variety of colors in their eyes... The soft dimples that make them unique... The way their eyebrows raise when they strike a certain expression... Photographing headshots is such an intimate experience and makes me just fall in love with the beauty of humanity and their glorious faces!!
